The flight was tightly packed, but uneventful. We left about 2pm on Saturday evening, arriving at a little after 10am Sunday morning. My luggage did not arrive. After the paperwork and changing some money, we caught a ride from a friendly guy with a mini-van for a non-cheap price. His driving was -- enlightening -- and the shape of things to come.

The game plan was to stay awake till a respectable bedtime on the first day, so we took the hotel van to the Metro stop, and the Metro to the Colosseum. on the first day.
