Pinnacle Rock

Second trip was to a very small island around Santiago called Bartolome. We climbed to the top an old lava cone for a beautiful view of the bay with two beaches and Pinnacle Rock below. Afterward, we took the pangas around to one of the beaches. I managed to leave my Akona sandles on the dock.

From the beach, snorkeling was in turbid water, but the sea life was awesome. I saw a white-tipped shark and a good-sized eagle ray, a smallish but bright trumpet fish, and some huge starfish. Also a big sea cucumber. On shore very near, I saw more sea lions, blue-footed boobies, and Galapagos penguins. Great dive!

That evening after dinner, I should have gone to bed early, but stayed up and played Scrabble© instead.

Penguins!
