The Vatican Museum is one of the best and largest in the world. Like trying to see the Smithsonian in a morning, it was impossible. Frederico wisely chose a few things to show us, and gave us at least a few minutes on those. I made scant attempts to photograph -- guess I should have bought a picture book, or at least post cards, but I didn't.

Pope's Window to Vatican Square

After the Vatican in the morning, we went into the city for a lovely lunch at the Arancio d'Oro. Dee Dee Corley, my roommate, was able to join us there. Fortune smiled on her coming. She had a ticket credit about to expire that let her fly for less than $10, and had been hired at a new job which hadn't started yet. Even more fortunate for me was that due to ticket availability she had to leave a day late -- and my luggage didn't arrive in Rome with me. I was able to call her and have her bring extra clothes.

Most of the pictures in this collection are from my camera. I took lots of pictures of her, and she took quite a few of me, some included here. We are friends, flatmates, and seasoned traveling companions, but not lovers, for those who are interested (like my and Dee Dee's sweethearts!).

After lunch, we returned to the Forum and the Colosseum.
