tropic birds off cliff, not beach!

Second trip was up the wall to the top, and across to the other side. We took the pangas to Barran cove to climb up. We saw more, but smaller, marine iguanas, lots of finches, all the other birds mentioned, mockingbirds, and doves. Saw tropic birds flying. Saw a couple of Galapagos Owls standing around waiting to feed off the storm petal colonies.

The schedule changed for the day because of a long trip for the evening. Dancing was 6pm to 7:30pm. We cast off right after dinner.

More lava gulls on board

9/22/2001

First trip was to a beautiful white sand beach on north central España (Hood) Island called Gardner Bay. the day was rather chilly and cloudy. saw several of the Hood mocking birds, including 3 doing a funny sort of dance. John Dixon got the dance on video. The beach was covered with California sea lions.

My hooded vest that I used on all the other swims wasn't enough to keep me warm on this one. I saw either 2 or 3 white-tipped sharks, a puffer fish, several cornets, and a beautiful whelk with a neon magenta foot with blue polka-dots. Pretty good life around the rock pinnacle. We saw turtles swimming off shore, but not in the snorkel area. I did see one sea lion swimming with me.
